I worked for years as a licensed professional counselor (LCP) assisting veterans as they navigated the very difficult transition to civilian life. This population tends to be skeptical of traditional therapy even when they recognize the need for help. I had the opportunity to witness first hand how quickly participating veterans embraced the healing process when surrounded by their peers in a serene environment that offers both peace and challenge. As a combat veteran myself, I felt my internal defenses collapse the moment I set foot on the boat. What normally takes years in a traditional counseling setting occurs in a matter of days on DSV cruises.
